This home for an artist is set amongst Blue Oak trees, in the rolling foothills of the northwestern Central Valley. Taking cues from rustic cabins and mid-century Modern dwellings, the materials – concrete masonry, engineered lumber, cementitious planks – are left bare to express their materiality. Floor-to-ceiling glazing frames views into the tree canopies and down the ravine.
